New Denver Church is not only concerned with needs in San Pablo la Laguna, Guatemala, but we believe we have an opportunity and responsibility to engage with the pressing issues facing our community right here in Denver. When we share God’s love in both word and deed with those in Denver, something special happens. We leverage the incredible time and resources we have to address legitimate physical, economic, and spiritual needs. And this challenges us to step out of our comfort zones, use our gifts and talents, and learn new things about God.
With that in mind, New Denver Church has chosen to focus on one particular Denver based ministry for now—Mile High Ministries (MHM). Our goal is to continue building a long-term partnership with MHM and serve them however we can. A bit about MHM:
Mile High Ministries was formed in 1988 as a collaborative effort between a group of churches, across denominational and cultural lines. They began their journey as a small group of mostly suburban folks with a heart for the poor. Over the years they’ve become urban people and an urban movement, deeply connected to our neighborhoods in the heart of the city. While their focus is Denver, they’re helping communities across the metro area see and connect with the growing numbers of poor and marginalized people within their own neighborhoods, while building connections between leaders throughout our urbanizing world.
While there are many amazing ways to partner with Mile High Ministries, New Denver tends to be involved in three key ways:
- Joshua Station – a transitional housing community in Denver
- Annual Partnerships
- We partner with MHM through their annual Christmas Store, school supply drive, and other citywide outreaches
- NDC gives at least 4% of all annual donations directly to Mile High Ministries
