New Denver Church is thrilled to host a MOPS (mops.org) group! MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. It began here in Denver by a small group of moms who wanted to build community and help each other become better moms. Now MOPS groups meet all over the country and in several other countries as well. MOPS is a faith-based group, however all moms are welcome, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. The mantra of MOPS is “no mom alone.” MOPS groups have grown exponentially because of the community we gain and the helpful information from speakers on various topics that help us become better moms and better people.
What is a MOPS meeting like?
The coffee and tea are ready to go as you walk in at 9:30am. Different groups of moms bring the items for the yummy brunch. The meal is one of our favorite parts of the meeting!
We hang out and eat for the first 30 minutes, usually do a fun interactive get-to-know you game or activity…low key. Then we generally have a speaker on various topics, followed by discussion with the moms at your table.
The beauty of the meeting is the kids are taken care of by loving childcare workers and you can rest and enjoy two hours, kids-free, with other moms!
We also have mentor moms who have already raised their kids and are here to help support and encourage us with the wisdom they have gained from going through it years before us. They are such a help!
What does it cost and what does it include?
$75 per semester.
The cost covers the meetings during the semester, childcare (the biggest expense), membership to MOPS International (which includes a tote bag, weekly mom emails, and a MOPS magazine), speaker fees, basic hospitality items, etc.
Partial or full scholarships are available so please don’t let money keep you from coming!
Can I try a meeting first?
Yes! You can come visit. After one visit, if you choose to come back, we ask you to go ahead and join.
