Last week we sent out a survey about re-opening NDC for in-person services and 106 people responded! Your feedback and comments were truly helpful and encouraging. We have also been monitoring the advice of health experts, CDC recommendations, CDHPE data about the number of cases in Colorado, and the guidelines recently released by Governor Polis for faith communities. With wisdom and prudence as our guiding principles, we have decided to re-open for in-person services on Sunday, July 5.
We will host two services at 8:30 and 10am. We will take numerous precautions including limited capacity at each service, social distancing, mask wearing, hand sanitizer stations, extra cleaning, increased ventilation, and shorter services. We cannot provide children’s ministries initially but families are welcome to attend the service together. We’re also working on an outdoor option for families with kids who need to be loud or squirmy. 🙂
In the coming weeks, we will provide a more complete list of the precautions we are taking and what you can expect when you attend.
While 71% of survey respondents said they would be ready to attend in-person by July, 29% said they would wait until later in the summer out of an abundance of caution or because of medical concerns. We totally understand. In order to provide an opportunity for those who cannot attend in-person, including anyone who gets sick or is exposed to someone who is sick, we will stream our Sunday gathering live online (similar to what we have been doing on Zoom but hopefully with better sound and video quality!) We plan to do this as long as the virus threat and need exists.
Some may feel we have waited too long to make this decision. I hope you’ll respect our caution and desire to make the facilities as safe as possible. We cannot eliminate all risk, but we believe it is our responsibility to move forward with wisdom and prudence. If you are antsy to get back (as I am!) and you did not volunteer on Sundays before the shutdown, would you be able to volunteer regularly when we return? We need extra people to help with host team and production for both service times. Email email@example.com and we’ll be in touch.
We will share more on our website in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you for your faithfulness! See you soon.
