Life Together, Part 4 – The Hardest Part

February 2, 2010

For the past few weeks we’ve been talking about our relational lives. We’ve asked a few questions: With whom are you in community? What does it mean to live in community? Who is your neighbor?  Are you being relationally intentional with your neighbor? In this message Drew Hill concludes the series with a message entitled “The Hardest Part.”  Living life together isn’t always easy.  In this message we take a look at how God calls us to respond when relationships become tough.

Life Together, Part 3 – For Others

January 24, 2010

We’re all busy. Each day we get up and go through our daily routines. We go to work. We run errands. We spend time with family and friends. In the flow of our everyday life, it’s easy to move past people we see every day and not even notice them. Our community just becomes the place we live or work, but is there more to being a neighbor than just sharing space? In this message Stephen explores what it means to live in community “for others.”

Life Together, Part 2 – For Us

January 17, 2010

Humans are relational beings. We were made to work, live, celebrate, and even mourn together . These days it’s easier than ever to connect with others through email, text messages, and social networking. But the pressures of work and family, an increasingly mobile lifestyle, and the abundance of technology and media diversions in our lives push us toward isolation. We live in “crowded loneliness.” Even at church it’s easy to come and go – sing some songs, hear a message but never go any deeper than a polite greeting and handshake. Is that just how it is or is it possible that the church was meant to be so much more? In this message Stephen explores what it looks like to build a community “for us.”

Life Together, Part 1 – Made For It

January 3, 2010

Unfortunately, we had technical difficulties and weren’t able to record audio for this message. Nevertheless, in this message, Norton shared how the Bible reveals that we were made to be in community with other people. In Genesis 1 and 2, the Bible says that humans were not made to be alone. The creation account records that God made Eve for Adam–so that humans would have one another to do life together. The creation account also reveals that we were made in God’s image and likeness. And since God is mysteriously a community of people himself–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–we bear his image best when we live life in community with others.
