Summer School

At New Denver Church we believe that life change happens most consistently in the context of intentional relationships, and we help facilitate these connections throughout the year in our small groups that meet weekly in homes. However, we also know that there are some topics and subjects that are difficult to work through in a small group environment . So at New Denver our small groups take off the months of June and July to spend time focusing on some of these subjects in our Summer School classes. All our classes meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Dinner and child care are provided at the church, and we only ask for you to cover the cost of each class’s materials (please let us know if cost is an issue and we can discuss financial assistance to help you participate).

In the summer of 2010 we offered two classes:

Crown Financial Ministries

The Crown Financial Ministries class is a 10 week in-depth study of what scripture teaches about money and possessions. Past participants in this class regularly report that marriages are strengthened and individuals find their way out of debt. They are also become consistent savers, generous givers, and prudent consumers. Most importantly, people enter into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ as they learn to apply His Word.

8 Crucial Questions

This is an eight-week class that explores the historical, biblical, and contemporary foundations of current discussions in Christian practice and theology. Our goal is to facilitate informed discussions that will give the participant a common vocabulary for future discussions around issues that often surface in our lives as well as providing helpful approaches to thinking through these issues historically and biblically. Topics covered in this class will include:

• What are the essentials of the Christian faith?
• How does the Trinity work?
• Does prayer work?
• Is Jesus the only way? What about other religions?
• If God is all-powerful, why is there evil in the world?
• What are heaven and hell like?
• How do Christians engage culture?
• How do faith and politics go together?
