Missional Communities
Too many people in our society live their lives in crowded loneliness – surrounded by people but having no significant relationships. At New Denver Church, we believe that regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey, we were all designed to live in relationship with others. The main way we accomplish this at New Denver Church is through our Missional Communities (MCs).
MCs are gatherings of between 20 and 50 people that take place in homes around the city throughout the week (see calendar below for exact dates and times). Each MC is unique and decides when they meet and what they will do during their time together. But each MC shares common values and common goals – to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by living together in the rhythm of UP (relationship with God), IN (relationship with each other), and OUT (relationship to others in the community through witness and service).
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I get connected into an MC?
Missional Communities are open environments so there is no sign up required. Simply consult the list of MCs on the map below to find the group nearest you or that you think best suits your needs. If you’d like you can email the group leader (click on the icon to get contact info) to get more information. Or you can simply consult the New Denver event calendar, find when and where a group is meeting and show up.
What happens at an MC gathering?
Each MC is a little bit different, but there are some common elements to all of them. MCs focus on developing a rhythm of life focused in three directions – UP (relationship with God), IN (relationship with one another in the MC) and OUT (witness and service to others in the community). When they meet in homes there will be “IN” activities such as sharing a meal together and just socializing and “UP” activities such as someone sharing a thought from scripture, discussing a spiritual topic or this week’s sermon. Each month an “OUT” activity will be planned such as a service project or an event designed to create connections with others not part of the MC but in their network of relationship.
How often do MCs meet?
Each MC determines their meeting schedule, but most MCs meet between two and four times per month. The purpose of MCs is to develop a rhythm of life together so meeting regularly is essential.
