Last Words, Part 5 – A New Deal
March 29, 2010
This is part five of our series, Last Words. It’s been said that when people are facing death, they get serious about life. They look back and reflect on the most important things. They look ahead and ponder the unknown future. And they take a moment to pass along their last words to those closest to them. In this series, we’re looking at Jesus’ last words.
This week at New Denver was a little different. Instead of a message, we watched Most, an Academy-Award-nominated short film. The film is a modern-day parable that beautifully depicts the themes of sacrificial love and redemption that we celebrate as we reflect on the last week of Jesus’ life. For those of you who were unable to attend this week, the film is available through the Most website or you can watch it here in these three video segments available on YouTube. After watching the video, we invite you to reflect on the Scripture passages listed below. Read more
Last Words, Part 4 – How to be Great
March 25, 2010
This is part four of our series, Last Words. It’s been said that when people are facing death, they get serious about life. They look back and reflect on the most important things. They look ahead and ponder the unknown future. And they take a moment to pass along their last words to those closest to them. In this series, we’re looking at Jesus’ last words.
What makes a person great? Is greatness defined by your accomplishments? Your competence? Your success? Or is possible that greatness should be measured in a totally different way. Jesus thinks so.

Second Sunday Project for March
March 8, 2010
At New Denver Church we choose not to gather together for worship services on the Second Sunday of the month. Instead we choose to use the second week of the month to gather in our community to worship God by serving others. This month we will continue our project with Habitat for Humanity. In January Habitat began construction of their historic new Bails neighborhood project here in Denver. The Bails neighborhood project is Habitat’s first transit-oriented green community build. They will be constructing 24 townhouses in 5 buildings to create 1 community. New Denver has partnered with other churches in our area to form the Future Faith Network. Together over the next several months we will contribute the time and money required to build one townhouse in the community.
New Denver has committed to provide ten volunteers on Saturday, March 13th. To sign up to serve with us go to the Future Faith Network volunteer website. Move fast, because these slots will surely fill up fast. If we run out of spots with Habitat or you can’t join us on Saturday, we will also be doing a work project at our new meeting location, Bonnie Brae Church. In order to improve the meeting area for our kids, we’ll be doing some painting and clean up at the church this Sunday, March 14th from 4:00pm-6:00pm. If you’d like to join us but child care is an issue, email Jason Malec (jason.malec@newdenver.org) for assistance. Or you can check out one of our other local partners to find another opportunity to join us to worship God by serving together in the community.
