Connecting with an Invisible God

September 6, 2009

This weekend, I’m teaching on what it means to connect with an invisible God. Bottom line: Intimacy requires intentionality.

1. Decide if God is a priority. If he is, then, 2. Discover your style of connecting to him (scripture, prayer, and what?). And 3. Do something! Establish a routine (time and place) and experiment with different methods.

Following are a few resources to pursue this further:
Beginner resources:
1.    The Life You’ve Always Wanted, by John Ortberg
2.    Reaching for the Invisible God, by Philip Yancey
3.    Sacred Pathways, by Gary L. Thomas.

Advanced resources:
1.    Handbook to Prayer, by Ken Boa.
2.    Living the Christian Year, by Bobby Gross
3.    A great series of blog posts on spiritual disciplines…
4.    A teaching series on spiritual disciplines…

Enjoy and let us know how you apply this!
