Finally here

From Alpharetta, GA to Dickson, TN to St Louis, MO to Russell, KS to Denver, CO.  1500 miles.  Four days of driving with two adults, an eighteen-month old, a four-year old, and a dog.  It was a long trip, but we finally made it!  We rolled into Denver at around 4:30pm today, and we are so excited to be here.

img_0147Our first order of business was to stop by the house we’ll be renting for a while here in Denver. Kate found a great place to rent in a really cool part of Denver. We’d never be able to afford to live in this neighborhood, but it’s a great deal on a month-to-month rental that should give us some time to get settled and decide where we’d like to be. Since our stuff is still in transit (we actually got a call from our driver that he’s stuck, literally, in Illinois and won’t be here until Friday now) the only one of us who can stay in the house right now is our dog Duke. So we got Duke settled and headed to the hotel. One of our new friends here in Denver is the manager of a great hotel near the Denver Tech Center and has given us a great deal on a place to stay for a few days. This has been a huge blessing. We’re a little disappointed that the delay of our stuff will keep us in “nomad mode” a little longer, but in the big scheme of things, it’s no big deal.

Overall the trip couldn’t have gone much better. The kids did great. The dog did great. We had good weather almost the whole way. I don’t know that we could ask for more. Thanks to all of you who tracked along through Twitter, Facebook, text messages, and phone calls. It was great to share this journey with you. Here’s a little more video from our last day of driving:

Thanks for sharing the video, Stephen & Kate! I love technology, and the fact that it almost seems like you’re here…but you keep mentioning some city in Colorado, so you’re not here.

The house looks great, and I am praying for all the blessings God is going to deliver to Denver through you, Norton, and Jason.
