God’s upside-down economy
September 30, 2008
Yesterday was not a great day for Wall Street, but it was a great day for our new church. After Congress failed to pass the proposed bailout plan, the markets responded with the largest single-day point drop in history for the Dow Jones industrial average. So why was this a good day for our church? While Monday may have been the worst day in history for the Dow Jones, it was the best day, financially speaking, for our church in its short history. We received more one-time gifts and more monthly commitments in one day than in any previous week – by far. We received almost as much in one day as we have received to date. So what does that mean? I don’t know, maybe nothing. But it was a great encouragement to me. People frequently ask me if I am worried about starting a church in such uncertain financial times. There are definitely days that I look at everything that’s happening in the world and in our economy and wonder how it will ever happen. We still have a long way to go, but days like yesterday remind me that God operates on a different economy. We know that He knows what we need and when we need it, and we’re trusting Him to bring along the people and the resources needed to get this church started.

Got something to say?

If you have questions about New Denver Church, we would love to get to know you, let you get to know us, and answer any questions you may have. So let us buy you a cup of coffee! Just
When God sends forth His people, it is usually into the unknown, trusting in the Known One, it is into the swirl where we are firmly held by the Sovereign One of the universe. Your words affirm that the actions of our WILD God are far bigger and grander than mere man can imagine. Praise be to Him who is our only hope. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills…all the resources of the world we only steward. You are seeing His goodness in a very large story that’s all for His glory. Praise be to Him!
Hello Stephen, I’m one of NPCC’s missionaries in Brasil and I’m excited about the New Church in Denver. I work with Starting Point (see the above website) and know Jason Malec and Norton well.
Praying for you guys and hoping to find some people in the Denver area to invite to the church.
